Evaluating previous A-level music videos
In today's lesson we looked at some previous music video's that had been created by media students and we acted as the examiner so we gt a mark scheme and had to mark the video's ourselves and then we found out the true level they got. Some were surprising and some weren't, we found that actually a lot of us were a lot more harsh than the examiner would be!
This A2 Music video production was done to the song 'Chandelier' by Sia. The video got near full marks and was graded A*. Watching the video I can see many techniques that we are looking at incorporating into our music video such as at the beginning they use a motorway to get images of the cars moving in the dark, we are also going to use this but just speed it up. Many of the techniques such as the reverse that is used at the falling of the wine glass and the smashing make the video tell the story and it is easy to understand what the producer of this video is trying to get across to us as the audience. The video is also focused around a couple and so is ours so we could look closely at this to see how they've made certain thing clear to help tell the story.
This Music video was produced to 'Photograph' by Ed Sheeran. This focuses around a young boy struggling to deal with the loss of a love. One of the most intriguing techniques used in this video is at the very end, when the boy is walking into the see but we see cross cutting between him walking and him with the girl and it puts it into perspective what the story is and what he is trying to get across. Also he uses a shot that we are egar to use in our video and this is where he is stood looking into the mirror and the camera is out of sight, we can look at this to help us get the best possible effect and production.
