Evaluation Question 4

Here is my final Evaluation Question 4, i chose to present this on Prezi as it was alot of information but its also a fun interactive set up to!

Final Music video

Image
We've finally done!! the music video is finished and we couldn't be happier with the outcome! All our ideas have been incorporated into both the filming and the editing of the final music video and i think personally we've achieved exactly what we wanted. We have faced some tough moments like having weather disruptions in our filming schedule and illness but as a group we've got everything finished and on time, i am very happy with our finished media products and believe that we all worked extremely hard to get it the best it could possibly be, i think working in a group benifited all three of us as we all had our own ideas and by bringing them together it gave us a range of camera shots in the video and a range of editing techniques, we equally shared the pressure and the jobs so that no one felt overloaded with work and most of all we all helped eachother when we got stuck. So here's our final A2 Music Video, i hope you enjoy it!

Our final finished website!

We finally finished our website and it really fits with the look we were going for! We wanted to keep it simple and straight forward so it was easy to navigate for people. We also wanted to keep it in theme as the up and coming star so shes not going to have alot to show, im relly happy with the final outcome and hope you enjoy looking around! Finished CD Pack

Image
We've finished our CD pack and insert booklet and are really proud and please with the turn out! its exactly what we envisioned and I feel like it really portrays the image we are going for in relation to our artist. We wanted to present the pack as one which the artist isn't very well known but is also very humble and down to earth and I think some of the shots we got in Hardwick really help to portray this as she isn't seen as a bold character.  This is our front cover for our album and we wanted a simple cover but one that could also make a statement. we thought the contrast of the camo jacket to the baby pink background was really effective as it makes Holly really stand out. As we are also aiming for a humble looking star we decided to have Holly looking away from the camera and we think it links well with the title 'Chapters' as we wanted it to be interpreted as her opening up to the fans in her songs and showing them the chapters she's lived. The ide...

Information on our song choice!

Hi Everyone! Here's a little bit more information on the song we picked and the artist we picked, behind choosing our song was a lot of deliberation and it was a tough decision to narrow it down. We now believe that we've got the perfect song to portray our storyline perfectly!! We plan on using the lyrics to help explain the narrative we are going for and plan on matching the pacing of the song with the pacing of the videos we film in order to get the best possible turn out.

First Draft Audience Feedback

Image
Here is our first audience feedback on our first draft, we interviewed a range of people just like we planned and I think it was very useful! First we chose to interview two teachers from school one male and one female. We chose our male teacher (Mr Newton) because we thought he would represent the rest of the viewers who may not essentially choose the video to watch because it isn't aimed at that audience so it was interesting to get some feedback from him and see how he received the narrative. Our second teacher (Miss Capper) we chose because she represented our top range of audience which was females around 24,25. We thought it would be really good to have someone represent the top end of our audience so we could see if all our targeted audience could relate and find interest in the video, and also to make sure we didn't put to much emphasis on the younger end of the audience. Our final choice of interview was with Olly, and we chose him because we thought it would be ...

First Draft!

Image
After putting so much hard work and thought into the video we finally published our first draft and we are very happy with the result! Although it isn't finished yet we are going to gain some audience feedback from different people and see what they think to it and if they would suggest improvements. We feel like asking a range of people could help us to think of new ideas and the fact that some of the people we are deciding to ask are part of our target audience could help massively as they are who we want to impress essentially!!! So by getting their opinion we can infer how the audience may choose to use the video in relation to Bulmer and Katz reception theory and we can adapt it to the needs of the audience a bit more if needs be!

Coursework Update

We've now handed in our first draft of the music video which means we need to now move on to looking at the evaluation of our video. In lesson we looked at how important it is to make sure our answers to the questions are varied in technological use. We plan to use the forms of vlogs and some written responses as well as looking at other new technologies we could use in order to make our answers as detailed as they could possibly be.  By gathering feedback from people at home and friends and family we can establish the positives and negatives towards the music video and hopefully change things in order to make the video better. We feel that by asking a range of ages we will get a varied response making it easier to aim it at our target audience because we can distinguish if we are attracting people that aren't necessarily in the age ranges we are targeting. I am really looking forward to gathering our first and secondary audience feedback because it means we can get cracki...

Editing Update

Image
While editing our music video we found that on one particular part we wanted a blur effect around the outside to make it clear that it was a flashback. We tried many different ways but they didn't look quite right so we decided to search on YouTube and see if we could find a video that helped. We found this video below: This video taught us how to use a 'Gaussian Blur' which was a lot easier to do, all it took was placing a circle over the part we wanted visible and it blurred the rest! This is the finished image we got and the edges looked a lot smoother than the previous attempt so we were really happy with how it turned out!

Exam Question preperation

In lesson today we looked at exam questions and how we can apply some theories to the questions that we could face in the actual exam. Section A - 1 hour 2 x 25 mark questions = 50 marks Question 1A - You don't have to talk about theories and the progress you make from AS to A2. Question 1B - You have to analyse one of your productions, and answer a question while adding in one of the theories.  Question 1A   Always asked about progress from AS to A2 and it could include topics such as: How you used research and planning to good effect Understanding of conventions of real media texts (textual analysis) Digital technology Post-production Creativity                                            Question 1B Apply theories of one of the areas below to one of y...

Analysing CD covers and packs

We were asked to do a post on CD packs, I decided to look at some of my favourite artists and bands CD packs and analyse them closely to see what they contained and if I could get any ideas to suggest to our groups pack. I decided to present this information in the form of a slideshow. Analysing CD Packs from beth allen

Evaluating previous A-level music videos

Image
In today's lesson we looked at some previous music video's that had been created by media students and we acted as the examiner so we gt a mark scheme and had to mark the video's ourselves and then we found out the true level they got. Some were surprising and some weren't, we found that actually a lot of us were a lot more harsh than the examiner would be!     This A2 Music video production was done to the song 'Chandelier' by Sia. The video got near full marks and was graded A*. Watching the video I can see many techniques that we are looking at incorporating into our music video such as at the beginning they use a motorway to get images of the cars moving in the dark, we are also going to use this but just speed it up. Many of the techniques such as the reverse that is used at the falling of the wine glass and the smashing make the video tell the story and it is easy to understand what the producer of this video is trying to get across to us as the audi...

Logo Practice

Image
we had a practice at some logo's for our artist, we tried a range of them to see what suit's the name and her persona best. we produced these on logojoy, by doing many different designs it gives us a range of choice and so we don't feel stuck to going down one path with how we want to present our star. here are our practice logo's.

Risk Assessment for our video

Image
For our video we have had to complete a risk assessment form, this is due to the fact we are filming outdoors in locations such as Meadowhall, Hardwick and on a bridge overlooking a dual carriageway. We have had to point out all the potential risks we could face in the form of tick boxes. We had to outline our risk of at which points in the video we are most at risk and also mention the locations of the risks.

Prop List

Image
We also decided to do a prop list which will help us when it comes to filming so we know what we need. we have delegated specific items to each person so that the responsibility is shared out and we are not just relying on one person. We had a budget and made it quite lenient to what we were willing to put in, we made the budget £25 and managed to spend under that with the end total being £14 which was a bonus for all of us.

Goodwins Theory

Andrew Goodwin came up with a theory about how music videos have relationships with the lyrics and how in some videos the relationship is to make the song mean something and make sense and another way the video and lyrics couldn't match and this may be for another reason.  match I decided to use relevant examples within the Prezi to help connote the true message across to the audience.

Tour Poster

Image
We designed a tour poster to go on our website once its finished to help make the website look more authentic. We chose quite a relaxed and calm shot for the background so the audience's main focus are the tour dates and they stand out the most. By looking at other tour posters we saw that mostly the name of the tour was featured and all the dates along with the names of the arena's. We noticed how the artist or bands name is always the biggest lettering so that it catches the eye of the fans. One interesting point to make is that on the Beatles poster and the bastille poster the name of the show is also a huge feature, but on the Liam Gallagher and the Zara Larsson poster it isn't a main point that is eye catching, this may be the fact that they are both solo singers and the main eye catching feature for them is there name that is what people will recognise them as, as for the big groups they may be recognised by both so they don't have to have just one ey...
